Buccellati Gold & Diamond Openwork Bracelet, Signed, Approx. 3.36 ct
A Buccellati gold bracelet, the wide articulated band worked as a repeating openwork pattern of stylised leaves and petals, each motif centred on a round brilliant cut diamond. Forty eight diamonds in all, approximately 3.36 ct, and 84.3 grams of gold. Signed BVCCELLATI ITALY and struck 750 to the clasp.
The surfaces carry the textured engraving the house is known for, worked with a graver so the gold reads as woven or as the surface of a leaf rather than as polished metal, and the openwork is cut right through so the band stays supple and light on the wrist for its weight.
Buccellati was founded in Milan in 1919 by Mario Buccellati, and built its reputation on exactly this kind of hand engraved texture, drawn from Renaissance goldsmithing and executed by hand rather than cast.
