Art Deco platinum diamond cluster ring of circular target form, an old European cut centre held in a collet inside concentric rows of old cuts, the whole plate edged in millegrain.
The target cluster is one of the defining Art Deco ring forms, a broad flat disc that reads as a single field of light rather than a stone on a mount. Here the plate is laid with twenty six graduated old European cuts set close in grain around a larger collet set centre, every edge finished with millegrain so the platinum breaks into tiny beads against the stones. Underneath, the gallery is pierced through as a star, both to lighten the plate and to let light up into the back of the diamonds. The shank is slender and plain, which keeps the whole weight of the design on the top.
