Platinum diamond cluster ring of about 1950, a 1.33 carat round brilliant raised in claws inside a radiating halo of baguettes, on a split triple band shank.
The design belongs to the years after the war, when the geometry of the 1930s softened into flowers and starbursts. Twelve baguettes radiate from the centre stone like petals, each held in its own pair of claws and stepped down from the collet so that the head sits up off the finger and throws shadow underneath. The centre brilliant is set high in a claw collet above them. The shank divides into three plain bands that run round the finger together, a treatment that keeps a large head balanced without adding bulk.
