The Morgan Dollar is one of the most iconic coins in American history, first struck in 1878 and circulating widely during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This 1889 example was struck at the New Orleans Mint and remains a highly collectible piece of U.S. numismatic history.

Designed by George T. Morgan, an English engraver who later became Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, the Morgan Dollar features a neoclassical depiction of Liberty on the obverse and an eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse.
