An early-20th-century pendant presentation box retailed by A. Marx & Co, London, with the retailer’s gilt name and royal-style crest applied inside the lid.

The rectangular case is covered in cream leather and retains a small metal push-button fastening. It opens to reveal a cream satin-lined lid and a fitted pale velvet base.

The lower section has a shaped impression and vertical retaining slot intended for a pendant, locket or pendant brooch. The circular recessed area accommodates the principal jewel, while the narrow upper channel allows space for a pendant bail, ribbon loop or short drop fitting.

Fair antique condition with wear consistent with age. The cream exterior shows discolouration, rubbing, marks and light surface wear. The satin lid lining has staining and creasing, while the velvet base displays compression, discolouration and a clear impression from the original jewel. The gilt retailer’s branding remains visible.
