Take the ring off for heavy work, the gym, gardening and swimming. Knocks loosen stones and chlorine can damage settings. Put it back on after creams and perfume, not before.

Most diamond rings clean up with warm water, a little washing-up liquid and a soft brush. Pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners on antique or fragile stones.
Mind soft stones
Emeralds, opals and pearls are soft or porous — clean only with a damp cloth and never soak them. Harder sapphires and rubies tolerate more.
